"Finding God in the Everyday!”

After the awesome revelation of God which we read about last week,

God ‘hides’

leaving us to search for a relation, a connection.

Moses ascends up Mount Sinai, through the clouds,

through the darkness to the light and the heavenly realms above.

He is on a mission to find God,

to receive the Torah and bring it back to the people.

As a unified entity the Jewish people declare,

”Naaseh v’nishma’

‘We will do, and we will listen/ learn.’

Only Moses can go up the mountain,

the rest of us search for God in the mundane,

in the everyday.

52 mitzvot/ commandments/ connectors to God are given

 in this week’s parasha Mishpatim.

When we do God’s will,

we attach ourselves to the divine and

become the conduits for divine light to flood the world.

In how we take care of each other God is to be found.

In how we respect each other God is to be found.

In our speech God is to be found.

In how we care for animals God is to be found.

We are told to “Keep far from falsehood, ‘and

“Do not give false testimony.”

We must stay at a distance from anything that is false and

to attach ourselves to the Truth.

Truth is that which is good,

that which brings us closer to God,

that which is the will of God-

Truth is synonymous with Goodness and Godliness.

We are a people who testify that God is good-

so, when we are good and loving,

we are the conduits by which God is brought into the world.

May we easily know what the right, good and true things are to do

so, when we do them, we reveal divine light and

thereby fulfill our purpose for being here.

Shabbat shalom
